Lung Fu Shan Environmental Education Centre

Background

The Lung Fu Shan Environmental Education Centre was jointly established by the Environmental Protection Department and The University of Hong Kong in April, 2008. It is the only Environmental Resource Centre established with the cooperation of the government and a tertiary institution. Through promoting the exploration of nature, the Centre seeks to build a community inclusive of nature, as well as encourage the public to practice a sustainable lifestyle.

The exhibition showcases valuable records and replicas date back to early 19th century, and to contemporary brilliant masterpieces made by local “amateur naturalists”. Throughout the exhibition, visitors not only can overview the development of Hong Kong natural history, but also understand much more the Hong Kong history and its biodiversity. Curated by Lung Fu Shan Environmental Education Centre, this exhibition is the first extensive survey themed on the history of Hong Kong’s amateur naturalists.
